Here at Kopari, when we say we “grab life by the coconuts” we absolutely mean it.
For starters, our coconut-crazed roots run deep. Kopari co-founder Kiana was born and raised a bonafide beach baby in Honolulu, Hawaii. While most kids on the mainland spent summers at sleep away camp crafting macaroni necklaces, Kiana was collecting wild coconuts from the jungle and whipping up amateur beauty concoctions. She realized early on that the natives of tropical regions owed their gorgeous skin and hair to their stripped-down, simplified beauty routines that revolved around—yep you guessed it—coconut oil.
Even our name, Kopari, is a slimmed-down version of ‘kopparai’ which is an Indian word for coconut. And then there’s the fact that each of our products starts with 100% pure, organic coconut oil sourced from the Philippines. And when we aren’t slathering the stuff onto our skin, we’re swishing it between our teeth, smoothing it into our hair, and scooping it into our smoothies. So what’s the deal? What is it that has us so coco-NUTS about the stuff? We thought you’d never ask.
Here are just a few of the reasons why coconut oil is our hero:
- In a world where beauty products are filled with cutting-edge chemicals, coconut oil keeps it real. Instead of being cooked up in a lab, it’s extracted straight from the meat of the coconut. By subbing in coconut oil for all that synthetic stuff, you’ll always know exactly what you’re putting onto your body.
- It’s fatty in a good way. Coconut oil is filled with fatty acids that possess antimicrobial and anti fungal properties, which make it an amazing acne remedy. These fatty acids are also the reason coconut oil is so great when it comes to retaining moisture—hello, hydration!
- Age ain’t nothing but a number. Though the old adage rings true, there’s still something about premature aging caused by sun damage that we can’t get past. Luckily, coconut oil has our backs. It’s loaded with antioxidants that quench free radicals, helping to keep looking skin ageless.
- Sensitive skin? Chances are you’re still in the clear when it comes to using coconut oil. The fats in coconut oil mimic the oil our skin produces naturally, making it a safe, mild moisturizer. Its anti inflammatory properties are also awesome at managing skin conditions like eczema.
Coconut oil + hair = love affair. Due to its low molecular weight, coconut oil is able to penetrate the hair shaft with its restorative proteins, which ultimately repair damaged hair. And because it’s full of vitamin E, coconut oil also promotes the growth of strong, glossy hair.
One heck of a resume, right? When it comes down to it, what you put on your skin matters. Your skin is your body’s largest organ and everything applied to it gets absorbed directly into your bloodstream. Unfortunately, the FDA does a less-than-stellar job at regulating all the stuff that goes into skincare products. But when it comes to coconut oil, what you see is what you get. So go ahead and slather it on. Cure those craggy cuticles, fix frizzy flyaways, heal cracked heels, soothe sunburns, put a stop to premature aging, and so much more. We promise this stuff is all it’s cracked up to be, and once you go coconut you’ll never go back.
